Milling

Milling is a cutting process that uses a milling cutter to remove material from the surface of a workpiece. The milling cutter is a rotary cutting tool with multiple cutting points.

As the milling cutter runs along the material, the cutting edges (flutes or teeth) of the tool repeatedly cuts into and exits from the material, shaving off chips with each pass.

Atlas uses facemills with indexable carbide inserts. Our mills can accommodate sizes ranging up 56 inches wide by 30 inches high by 205 inches long.
